"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved
you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that
you are my disciples, if you love one another." - John 13:34-35
One of the
most incredible things about the Lord is that he doesn't ask to
get paid back for saving us all from eternal death. He simply wants
us to enjoy Him and live our lives for the betterment
of other people. Even though this sounds easy, we find that not living
for "self" is harder than you may think.
We believe that God's plan for his children today is
to live in a community environment that exists to help each
other. We're not talking about weird groups that make you dress the
same and live in dorms, we're talking about just having a community
of friends that you can call on to help you get through stuff.
Jesus also specifically said "Love your neighbor as yourself." When
he said, this a preacher standing right next to him said "define neighbor."
This is where it gets tougher still. From this point, Jesus goes
on to tell the story of the good Samaritan which basically says that
Jesus actually wants us to love people who don't love
Him and even people who don't like us. That's hard.
